Voltage regulators are an essential part of charging the battery.

The ignition of your scooter generates an AC current with a high voltage, the voltage regulator converts this into a DC current with a regulated voltage that is needed to make all electrical parts of the scooter work. If the battery is not sufficiently charged, it may be useful to first measure the charging voltage. To be able to charge a 12 Volt battery, the voltage regulator must supply approximately between 13.5 and 14 Volt, you can measure this with a multimeter on the battery terminals while the engine is running at sufficient speed. If the value you measure is not between 13.5 and 14 Volt, this is often caused by a broken voltage regulator but of course is can also have another cause.

►Product name of the voltage regulator

The voltage regulator is also called an alternator regulator or rectifier. This name is derived from the processing of alternating current into direct current. In the two-wheeler industry, the voltage regulator can also be described as a horn rectifier.

►Voltage Regulator Parts

The voltage regulator is usually an electronic component with cooling ribs. The number of connections and contact plugs varies, there are voltage regulators with 3, 4, 5 or 8 connections or pins. On some models, the flasher relay (also called a turn signal relay or flasher unit) is integrated directly into the voltage regulator, it can therefore not be replaced separately.

►Manufacturer of the voltage regulator

Voltage regulators are offered from various manufacturers such as Ducati and Kokusan. In addition to the wide range of original brands, such as Piaggio, Vespa, Gilera, Derbi, Aprilia, Yamaha, Sym, Peugeot or Yamaha, there are also alternative suppliers such as RMS, TNT and Top Performances that supply regulators.

►With the vehicle filter you will find the right regulator

If you are not sure which voltage regulator you need for your vehicle, simply enter the brand, model and type of scooter in the vehicle filter to find the right item. Of course you can also select the correct brand, type and model via the exploded views under original parts to find the required original voltage regulator. If in doubt, you can always send an email to our customer service, stating your frame number.
