Halogen or LED headlights?
Everyone knows the terms, but what exactly do they mean? What benefits do you have?
The halogen lamp is the tuned version of the incandescent lamp. The halogen lamp uses a filament housed in a halogen-filled lamp. When powered, this light bulb sends electrical current through these filaments. The current heats this tungsten filament until it becomes incandescent, after which it begins to emit light. An advantage is that it reproduces the color of the light very naturally and has a much longer lifespan than an ordinary incandescent lamp.
Light Emitting Diodes (LED) - durable
LED lights require more complex electronics. This makes them slightly more expensive to produce. When voltage is applied to the anode and cathode, an electron flow is created between the semiconductor layers. This releases energy and creates small flashes of light. The LED emits photons, which we perceive as light. The life of an LED lamp can be up to 20,000 hours and consumes little energy, which is a clear advantage. There is a very large choice of colors for lamps, which is why LEDs are often used in vehicle tuning.
